I mostly paint in a plein-air style describing the play of light and shadow on landscapes and buildings. Shadows create shapes with elusive details which offset illuminated highlights lending a richness to my finished work. I find great beauty in the area of Cape Ann where I paint. The rocky coast, sweeping marshes and variety of historic architecture found in our coastal villages are my subject matter, and the ever changing colors of each season are my inspiration. Please see my Galleries for a sampling of my work.
With my Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art, and my Master's Degree in Museum Studies from Harvard University, I have a working knowledge of both the process and history of art. My Fine Art photography has been shown at Viridian Gallery in New York City, and my writing has been published in the book, The Lynn Beach Painters. All throughout my career I've been fortunate to share my creativity making, researching and writing about art. |
